In Progress
Graduate Research Studio in Inclusive Design, focused on the reclaiming and reappropriating of post-gay spaces. Focus of study is Buffalo City Court, a 10-story Brutalist building which sits on the site of the now-demolished Tiki Room, where the Mattachine Society of Western New York was founded in 1979. Students appropriate part of the building to be run by the Pride Center of Western New York in support of queer individuals interfacing with the justice system, while highlighting the building’s forgotten queer history through methods of spatial appropriation.
